NFL Fantasy Start ‘Em: Week 13

Start ‘Em

Quarterback

Vince Young, Tennessee Titans

It week 13 and the Tennessee Titans haven’t lost a game in the past games after starting Vince Young at quarterback and sending veteran quarterback Kerry Collins back to the bench. This week the Titans will face their biggest challenge yet with Young behind center going up against the undefeated Indianapolis Colts.

Obviously the Titans are big underdogs in this game, but they have been underdogs all season long. This game will be the true test to see whether or not Vince Young is back on his way to being one of the best quarterbacks in the league once again. It will be tough, but I think Young will have one of his best games yet against the Colts.

Other notable QBs: Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers; Carson Palmer, Cincinnati Bengals; Tom Brady, New England Patriots

Running Back

Matt Forte, Chicago Bears

It has been a tough year for the Chicago Bears offense. At times they have looked as good as any team in the league on offense, but most of the time they have looked like a team with absolutely no chemistry on the offensive side of the football.

This week the Bears will face off against the St. Louis Rams in what should be an easy win for Jay Cutler and company. The air attack led by Cutler should be firing on all cylinders this weekend, but I think running back Matt Forte could be in for his best game of the year after having somewhat of a disappointing season.

Other notable RBs: Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers; Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans; Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars

Wide Receiver

Jason Avant, Philadelphia Eagles

With wide receiver DeSean Jackson out this weekend due a concussion, quarterback Donovan McNabb will be looking in Avant’s direction to make up for the big hole left by the absence of Jackson.

The Eagles will be playing against the injury ravaged Atlanta Falcons this weekend and Donovan McNabb and company will be looking to exploit that fact. Jackson should have a big day with at least one touchdown.

Other notable WRs: Brandon Marshall, Denver Broncos; Chad Ochocinco, Cincinnati Bengals; Vincent Jackson, San Diego Chargers

Tight End

Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers

Last week against the Kansas City Chiefs, Chargers tight end Antonio Gates had his best performance of the season with 118 yards and two touchdowns. This year has been a bit of down year for the future hall of fame tight end, but with San Diego getting hot as of late and Philip Rivers playing at the level he is playing, I expect Gates to reap the benefits.

This week the Chargers play the lowly Cleveland Browns in what will almost certainly be an absolute massacre. Gates should have big day similar to last week’s performance against the Chiefs.

Other notable TEs: Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers; Greg Olsen, Chicago Bears; Brent Celek, Philadelphia Eagles

Kicker

Shayne Graham, Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals will face off against the Detroit Lions which will almost certainly be a blowout victory in favor of Carson Palmer and company. With that being said the Bengals will put up a lot of points on the board and kicker Shayne Graham will have quite a few extra points and field goals as a result.

Other notable Kickers: Jeff Reed, Pittsburgh Steelers; Rob Bironas, Tennessee Titans; Nate Kaeding, San Diego Chargers

Defense

Cincinnati Bengals

With the Bengals playing the lowly Detroit Lions this weekend, Cincinnati’s defense will mostly likely have a big day as the Lions have turned the football over on a consistent basis all season long.

Other notables Defenses: Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings
