The marque matchup of week 10 is without a doubt the undefeated Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning taking on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. This is a very heated matchup of AFC heavyweights which is almost always the most anticipated game of the season with two of the best quarterbacks of all-time going head to head, but even though this is going to be great game, I would think twice before starting anyone on either of these teams including Manning and Brady.
Instead of going with your must start players on either side of the Patriots and Colts, check out the alternatives for week 10 below as there are some big time players poised for some huge performances this week.
Start ‘Em
QuarterbackDrew Brees, New Orleans Saints
Starting Brees is a no brainers every single week, but this week especially since the undefeated Saints will be going up against one of the worst teams in the NFL this season in the St. Louis Rams. I expect Brees to have his best game of the season here as he should throw for two to four touchdowns or more against the lowly Rams. So if you have Brees, starting drooling because he will put up some big numbers this week!
Other notable QBs: Kurt Warner, Arizona Cardinals; Brett Favre, Minnesota Vikings; Mark Sanchez, New York Jets
Running Back
Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
Much like Brees, Peterson is poised for his biggest game of the season as the Vikings go up against the Detroit Lions this week. The Lions have been awful as usual and will be helpless to stop Peterson and the high powered Vikings offense. AP should have a big day with 100+ yards and couple of touchdowns.
Other notable RBs: Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans; Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens; Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
Wide Receiver
Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons
Matt Ryan should have a field day this week against the Carolina Panthers. The New Orleans Saints may have struggled against the Carolina defense last week, but that won’t happen again this week as Ryan will be spreading the football around and be looking for White to go deep. Expect White to have a 100 yard game and a touchdown against the Panthers in week 10.
Other notable WRs: Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals; Brandon Marshall, Denver Broncos; Marques Colston, New Orleans Saints
Tight End
Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons
There are only a few good tight ends worth starting in fantasy football, but this week you can’t go wrong with starting Gonzalez against the Carolina Panthers. Gonzalez should get some looks in the redzone and at least 50 yards or so.
Other notable TEs: Dallas Clark, Indianapolis Colts; Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers (pending injury); Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers
Kicker
Ryan Longwell, Minnesota Vikings
Brett Favre and company are poised to put up a lot of points on the Detroit Lions this week and that means a lot of extra points and field goal opportunities for Longwell.
Other notable Ks: Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers; John Carney, New Orleans Saints; Rob Bironas, Tennessee Titans
Defense
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are firing on all cylinders on both sides of the football this season and they are playing against the Detroit Lions this week. Nuf said!
Other notable Defenses: Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons
