NFL Fantasy Sleeper Report: Week 9

It should be an interesting week nine in the NFL with some key matchups and some potential for big fantasy sleepers. Last week the Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats was by far the biggest fantasy sleeper of the week and perhaps the entire season. This week we might see a repeat performance by the backup running back against the Indianapolis Colts.

NFL Fantasy Sleepers Week 9

Quarterback

Matt Hasselback, Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are going nowhere this season as they haven’t played well and haven’t gotten somewhat of a bust in free agency with TJ Housmanzadeh, but this week against the Detroit Lions they have a chance to try and get back on track. Hasselback may still be suffering from a rib injury, but don’t be surprised to see him put up some big numbers against the weak Detroit defense in week nine.

Running Back

Ryan Moats, Houston Texans

Last week was Moats coming out party as he had a career day in place of Steve Slaton who was benched after a poor performance. Moats had three touchdowns and 151 total yards in the win over the Buffalo Bills. This could have been a fluke and I am pretty certain these kind of numbers will not happen this week against the Colts, but he will almost certainly get at least one touchdown and about 50 yards.

Wide Receiver

Roy Williams, Dallas Cowboys

This may seem like a crazy pick for a sleeper this week after Williams came out publicly and said that he and Tony Romo are not on the same page, but the Philadelphia Eagles defense will be concentrating on stopping Miles Austin and Jason Witten this week so Williams might get a few extra looks this week. A long shot, I know, but that is the definition of a sleeper in fantasy football.

Tight End

James Casey, Houston Texans

With Owen Daniels out of the season for the Texans will be missing a huge part of their offense and will be looking to fill the void with Casey at tight end. He may not put up the same kind of numbers as Daniels, but I won’t be surprise to see Casey get a few looks in the endzone this week against the Colts.

Defense

San Francisco 49ers

The Niners have really started to turn things around lately with the reemergence of quarterback Alex Smith and Frank Gore back healthy, but their defense has been pretty solid as of late and played very well against the Indianapolis Colts last week even though they ended up losing. This week the Niners play the Tennessee Titans and the defense could have a huge day against Vince Young.
