NFL Fantasy Football: Start ‘Em Week 6

Five weeks are in the books and we are set for another week some exciting matchups in the NFL!

So far this season we have had a pretty good mix of fantasy studs and duds. If you picked Drew Brees, Peyton Manning or Adrian Peterson then you are probably sitting pretty with a winning record in your league right now as they guys have been money in the first five weeks of play. Then again if you picked Stephen Jackson, Matt Cassel or Terrell Owens then you have probably been licking your wounds all season long thus far.

Even if you have struggled up to this point in your fantasy football league, don’t get down on yourself, there is still plenty of time to make up some ground. You can make some trades, work the waiver wire and really pay attention to who you are starting and sitting on a weekly basis.

So if you want to start getting that winning feeling this season pay attention to start ‘em here at SportsUntapped.com!

Start ‘Em Week 6

Quarterback

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Starting Rodgers this week is an absolute no brainer as the Packers take on the Detroit Lions in week six. Rodgers hasn’t exactly lived up to his high status in most drafts, but it is still early in the season and I get the feeling this will be a break out game for the young quarterback. Rodgers is projected to score 30 fantasy points this week against the weak Detroit defense.

Other notable QBs: Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia Eagles; Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers; Carson Palmer, Cincinnati Bengals

Running Back

Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars

Jones-Drew has been very hot and cold this season. In my opinion he shouldn’t have been picked in the top ten in anyone’s draft this year, but this week he should blow up against the St. Louis Rams who arguably the worst team in the NFL this season. Jones-Drew is projected to score 22 fantasy points against the worthless Rams run defense.

Other notable RBs: Cedric Benson, Cincinnati Bengals; Ryan Grant, Green Bay Packers; Brian Westbrook, Philadelphia Eagles

Wide Receiver

DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles

Donovan McNabb is back behind center in Philly and that is good news for DeSean Jackson fantasy owners as he has quickly become his favorite target. This week the Eagles will be playing against the Oakland Raiders who are about as bad as it gets in the NFL this season. Jackson should light up that secondary as he is projected to score 12 fantasy points this week, but I think it will be closer to 20+!

Other notables WRs: Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals; Randy Moss, New England Patriots; Chad Ochocinco, Cincinnati Bengals

Tight End

Brent Celek, Philadelphia Eagles

One player in the Eagles offense that has really started to emerge this season has been tight end Brent Celek. He may not be at Dallas Clark, Tony Gonzalez or Antonio Gates status just yet, but he is not far off! He is must start with a healthy McNabb and against the lowly Oakland Raiders. Celek should get 10+ fantasy points in week six.

Other notable TEs: Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers; Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons

Kicker

Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers

The Packers are going to put a lot of points on the board against the Detroit Lions so it might be good idea to start Crosby this week as he is projected to score 11 points.

Other notable Ks: Lawerence Tynes, New York Giants; Nate Kaeding, San Diego Chargers

Defense

Philadelphia Eagles

You can’t go wrong starting and offensive player on the Eagles this week, but you really can’t go wrong starting the Philly defense either as they will wrap Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell in a cocoon of horror! Always wanted to the say that!

Other notable Defenses: Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers
