Time: 4:30 pm EST

Point Spread: New England Patriots -8.5

Preview: Two long time, bitter rivals will reunite on Sunday afternoon in Foxboro, MA. The New York Jets will take on the New England Patriots. The winner will get to play the winner of the Ravens/Steelers game in the AFC title game next weekend. This is the third matchup between the two teams this season. On September 19th, the Jets won their first game of the season beating the Patriots 28-14. New England got sweet revenge on December 6th, pounding the Jets 45-3.

Since 2001, New England leads the season series 15-6. The Jets are known for the voice of their head coach Rex Ryan. Like last week, Ryan calls the Patriots “icons” in hopes of inspiring his team even more. New York went to Indianapolis last week and kicked a field goal to win the game. On the season, the Jets scored 367 points and allowed 304. Mark Sanchez passes for 3291 yards and 17 touchdowns, while throwing 13 interceptions. The running game for the Jets was one of the best in the league, led by former Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson. Tomlinson finished the regular season with 6 touchdown runs.

The Patriots are the top scoring team in all of the NFL; scoring 518 points during the regular season. New England’s offense was anchored by veteran quarterback Tom Brady. Brady, appears to be the shoe in choice for MVP; tossed for 3900 yards and 36 touchdowns, while throwing just 4 interceptions. Wes Welker, a season removed from tearing his ACL caught 86 passes during the regular season, with 7 of them for touchdowns. New England’s running back core of BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead combined for over 1500 yards and 18 touchdowns on the season.

My NFL Betting Picks: New York Jets +8.5 and Under 44.
