Notre Dame Blasts Miami in 2010 Sun Bowl

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish scored the first 27 points of the game and thrashed the Miami Hurricanes 33-17 in the Sun Bowl on Friday night.

Freshman quarterback Tommy Rees threw for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win. His top receiver Michael Floyd caught two touchdowns to lead the Irish. The win for Notre Dame finished the season at 8-5 after starting 1-3 with losses to Tulsa and Navy.

Jacory Harris started at quarterback for Miami, completing just 4 of 7 passes, while his three incomplete passes went for interceptions. Stephen Morris took over for Harris and threw for 282 yards, while completing 22 of 33 passes and 2 touchdowns.

The game sold out in just 21 hours, which is the fastest in the 77 year history of the Sun Bowl. The game saw a sold out crowd of 54,021. The temperature was 34 degrees, which was not an issue for the Irish, but seemingly bothered the Hurricanes, who had many wearing several layers.
