The postseason picture is still pretty unsure in both the Eastern and Western Conference at the “half way” point in the NBA season. Teams still have anywhere from 22-28 games left on the season. 22 of the 30 teams in the National Basketball Association are currently in the hunt for the 16 postseason positions.

In the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics lead the charge, just ½ game ahead of the Miami Heat. The Celtics would be the top seed in the postseason if the playoffs started today. Boston would host the 8th seeded Indiana Pacers. The Pacers lead Charlotte by one game, with Milwaukee and Detroit 3.5 and 4.5 back respectively. As the second seed, Miami would start the postseason at home against the 7 seed. Currently that is the Philadelphia 76ers, but they are making a run towards .500 and up the ladder. The third seeded Chicago Bulls would host 6th seeded New York, and in the 4/5 game the Orlando Magic would host the Atlanta Hawks.

In the Western Conference, San Antonio has complete control. The Spurs lead Dallas by six games for the top record. The Spurs would host either Memphis or Utah, who are tied for the 8th seed. The Phoenix Suns are 2.5 games behind both teams in 10th place, while the Golden State Warriors are 4 games back. Dallas, despite their second best record would hold the 4 seed, due to not winning their division. The Mavericks would host Portland, as the 5 seed. #2 in the West belongs to the Lakers, and #3 is Oklahoma City. Just ½ game separates 5th seeded Portland from 6th seeded New Orleans. Denver is just ½ game behind that as the #7 seed.

There is a lot to play for the final two months of the regular season in the NBA. The postseason should be a bunch of fun!
