NBA Injury Update: Derrick Rose Injures Hip Against Magic

The Eastern Conference might be full of disappointing teams once again this season, but despite all the underachieving teams in the lesser of the two conferences, there are some very talented young players that look like they will be able to turn around their franchises in the years to come.

One of those players that has the potential to turn around his franchise is the Chicago Bulls superstar point guard Derrick Rose. So far this season, Derrick Rose has failed to disappoint as he has pretty much started where he left off last season and is the Bulls’ leading scorer with 19.9 points and 5.9 assists per game.

This season has been rough for the Chicago Bulls as they have tried to make up for losing their former leading scorer in shooting guard Ben Gordon who hit the road in the offseason and signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Pistons. Without Gordon the Bulls have struggled to play well consistently this season and the scoring load go down to Rose who has improved his scoring by three points per game from 16.8 to 19.9 ppg.

Ironically enough, even though the Chicago Bulls have struggled throughout the season, they are still in second place in the Central division behind the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 25-26 record. Sad to say the least that a team can be in second place in a division in the NBA with a losing record, but it might not be the case soon as Derrick Rose went down with a hip injury after colliding with Dwight Howard in Wednesday night’s loss to the Orlando Magic.

It has yet to be determined how serious the injury to Rose’s hip is, but it was bad enough for the young point guard to not return against the Orlando Magic after going down in the first quarter.

Needless to say, if the injury is serious, it could be huge blow to a team that is already hurting since center Joakim Noah hasn’t been able to play with an injury of his own.

Much like the injury to Chris Paul for the New Orleans Hornets, the absence of Derrick Rose is a huge blow to the Chicago Bulls and could be the difference between playing in the playoffs or watching the NBA post season from home.
