The injury bug strikes again for the Los Angeles Clippers as their superstar rookie forward Blake Griffin goes down with a fractured left kneecap. The injury will keep Blake Griffin out of action for up to six weeks. That does not sound good at all for the Clippers and sounds a lot like the Portland Trailblazers injury problems with their former number one pick Greg Oden.
It is unbelievable to me how unlucky the Los Angeles Clippers are, they just seem like an NBA franchise that is doomed and destine for failure. Obviously this isn’t a season ending injury and Griffin will hopefully be ready in six weeks or possibly earlier, but this has to really disappointment the Clippers were looking at getting off to good start this season.
The Clippers already had their work cut out for them against the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday night at Staples Center, but now that they are without their promising rookie forward this game could quickly turn into a blowout much like it did last season when the Lakers tore them apart and beat them by 40 points.
Despite Blake Griffin going down before even playing a single game in the NBA the Clippers have a promising young squad led by point guard Baron Davis who supposedly lost about 20 pounds in the offseason and is ready to make the Clippers a playoff team once again.
Along with Davis getting in shape the Clippers also have one of the best young shooting guards in the league in sharp shooting Eric Gordon who will get a lot more minutes this season being the starting two guard alongside Davis. Gordon was pretty impressive last season as he was arguably the best player on the team when Davis went down with injury. He is pure shooter and natural scorer that can light up the scoreboard on any given night. Look for Gordon to make a name for himself this season as he will most likely be the Clippers leading scorer this season.
The Boston Celtics have arguably the best frontcourt in the NBA this season with the addition of forward Rasheed Wallace to the mix with Kevin Garnett, the Los Angeles Lakers also are in the running for the best frontcourt with Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, but the Clippers might also make a case for the most dominant frontcourt with Marcus Camby, Chris Kaman and Blake Griffin when he gets back healthy. That being said the Clippers do have all the right pieces to the puzzle this season they just need to stay healthy and create some team chemistry.
