No matter what this kid does, every single season he seems to go down with some sort of injury that keeps him out for an extended period of time.
Ever since Andrew Bynum became the starting center for the Los Angeles Lakers he has missed considerable time with two serious knee injuries. The injury to his knee in 2008 was enough to keep him out for the rest of the regular season and throughout the entire postseason where the Lakers eventually lost to the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.
The following season, Bynum went down with another knee injury which was ironically similar to the previous season and had to sit out considerable time once again, but was able to return and help the Los Angeles Lakers win their 15th NBA title.
This season Bynum has sat some time, but nowhere near as much as the two previous seasons, at least until he went down against the Minnesota Timberwolves last Friday night at the Staples Center.
Even though Andrew Bynum has a big upside as he looks like he could be a dominant center in this league in the foreseeable future, he continues to struggle with injuries that keep him on the sidelines and might force the Lakers to eventually deal him elsewhere.
For the time being though, the Los Angeles Lakers will have to play without their starting center once again as he will sit out the next six games, three of which against some of the top teams in the league like the San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder and the Atlanta Hawks.
This injury to Andrew Bynum isn’t exactly devastating to the Lakers as the regular season is quickly coming to an end, but Kobe Bryant and company are still trying to compete with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the best record in the NBA.
Over the next six games Lamar Odom will get back into the starting lineup and Pau Gasol will became the starting center which is nothing new for either player.
