Back to the NBA tonight and what looks like a decent value on a not so decent team. At least I can get in a clever reference to the classic ‘Los Lobos’ song. Typically, I try to find pictures of hot cheerleaders since I figure that you’d rather look at them instead of some sweaty athlete. Try as I might, I couldn’t find a picture of the Minnesota Timberwolves cheerleaders. A Google search turned up cheerleaders for every other NBA team, the Minnesota Vikings cheerleaders, and a few photos from an ‘adult video’ website of women that claimed to be cheerleaders but I have my doubts. Rather than spend my entire afternoon hunting for the elusive photo of a T-Wolves cheerleader, you’re stuck with a picture of Mark Madsen back when he played for Minnesota.
LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS VS. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES
Neither of these teams have been very good this year. The Clippers are 10-14 SU, while Minnesota is 4-21 SU but the Timberwolves are starting to show signs of life. At the very least, they’ve shown the ability to compete on most nights. Minnesota is 13-12 ATS this year, while the Clippers are 8-14 against the number. Recently, however, the Timberwolves have been on fire against the NBA pointspread covering eight of their last nine games. These teams have played twice in L.A. so far this season and while the Clippers won both games outright it was by a combined 7 points with Minnesota cashing the ticket for NBA betting fans.
So we’ve got a team that has shown the ability to keep competing every night as the losses pile up getting a ‘beatable’ opponent that they’ve lost two close road games to in a matchup on their home floor. That’s what those of us in the handicapping biz call a ‘double revenge spot’. Ryan Gomes is expected to miss tonight, but Al Jefferson has been playing better and Kevin Love is back in the lineup and we expect those two to have big games and pick up the slack for his absence. At the price, all the TWolves have to do is win the game and that’s exactly what we expect to happen.
