NBA Betting Power Rankings
30. Memphis Grizzlies
Get out your ten foot pole. I wouldn’t touch them without some real signs of early-season life.
29. Minnesota Timberwolves
No Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love is injured. Bet against them if you can get any kind of odds.
28. Sacramento Kings
Nice infusion of youth to add to Kevin Martin’s scoring prowess. But they’re still going to be brutal.
27. New York Knicks
David Lee is their best player. Next.
26. Milwaukee Bucks
They should’ve hired Bill Simmons as GM. Brandon Jennings should be fun to watch. But don’t waste your money.
25. Charlotte Bobcats
Speaking of Simmons, he wrote that coach Larry Brown asked a friend of Michael Jordan’s to tell him that he wanted to talk to him. Brown works for Jordan. That’s a shitty organization.
24. Golden State Warriors
Stephen Jackson’s abundant mental-midgetry is holding back a promising and exciting team. Hopefully they can move him and get on with their lives.
23. New Jersey Nets
Nice core of Harris/Lopez/Lee. Not going to make much noise this year, but three years from now? Watch out.
22. Indiana Pacers
I can’t think of a more boring team. If you bet on them you have to watch them. Don’t bet on them.
21. Oklahoma Thunder
Now here’s an exciting team. They have the talent to pull off some upsets this season. The challenge will be consistency.
20. Detroit Pistons
Huge lack of post presence and Ben Gordon is still coming off the bench? Guys who make that kind of cash should start. Seriously.
19. Washington Wizards
Jameson is out but Arenas looks like he could be back to his old self. Keeping in mind his old self took 20+ shots per game and did not make his teammates better.
18. LA Clippers
Ahhhhhhhhh! Blake Griffin. I was so excited. Hopefully he bounces back and can help turn this promising Clips’ squad around.
17. Miami Heat
D-Wade is always dangerous. He’s got a handful of “I’m carrying this team on my back to beat a team that is much better than us” games in him per season. Pick the right ones and you could cash in.
16. Houston Rockets
You watch. These guys will scrap their asses off to stay in games. They’ll win more than half too. Defense and three point shooting. Think about the Rockets.
15. Philadelphia 76ers
Elton Brand is back. There are still a ton of question marks surrounding this team. They should make the playoffs.
14. Toronto Raptors
As shown in their season opener against the Cavs, these guys have an exciting club. Especially if Bargnani can play like that all season. Watch out!
13. Phoenix Suns
Poor, poor loyal Steve Nash. He should’ve left to try and win a title. Not going to happen in the desert. God I love Steve Nash.
12. New Orleans Hornets
All I’ve read is that they tuned out Byron Scott last season. Is that even reversible? They’ll still win 45.
11. Chicago Bulls
Vinny Del Negro is lost on the bench but Derrick Rose will keep this team in games. They also proved their mettle in last season’s series with Boston. They could turn some heads.
10. Atlanta Hawks
Studly young roster. Vegas may underestimate them early on. Watch closely and pounce on solid odds opportunities.
9. Utah Jazz
If Jerry Sloan’s coaching that means they will be competitive in most games. The Jazz are never really a bad bet.
8. Dallas Mavericks
Ahhhh the Mavs. Always flirt with 50+ wins and always blow hard in the playoffs. That doesn’t mean you can’t make some cash in the regular season.
7. Denver Nuggets
Carmelo and the boys will be a force just like last season. Fun as shit to watch too. Bet and watch.
6. Portland Trail Blazers
What a great young team. Brandon Roy should have these guys battling hard in every single game. Always a decent bet.
5. Cleveland Cavaliers
Good luck getting any decent odds on any of the next few teams. The Cavs are 0-2 but they’ll turn it around. Shaq should stop worrying about law enforcement and get back in shape. Christ.
4. Orlando Magic
The defending Eastern Conference champs added Whiney McWhinerson Vince Carter and everyone thinks it’s a big deal. Vince sucks. The Magic are still good obviously.
3. Boston Celtics
Juggernaut. They are going to beat the hell out of a lot of teams. Bet green to win green.
2. San Antonio Spurs
They are going to be money this season. They’re going to make you some money. You should get slightly better odds with them than the rest of the top five.
- LA Lakers
They’re the defending champs. They have to be number one. Odds will be shit though so bet carefully.
