In a NBA betting matchup between two teams with losing records both SU and ATS the New Orleans Hornets head to the Staples Center to play the ‘other’ Los Angeles team, the Clippers. Both teams are playing poorly right now, with the Hornets losing 8 of 10 SU, outdone by the Clippers run of 1-9 SU and current 7 game losing streak. No surprise that the Hornets are 11th and the Clippers 12th in the Western Conference.
NEW ORLEANS HORNETS VS. LA CLIPPERS:
In a matchup between two bad teams, more often than not taking the points with the underdog is the correct way to play it. This is especially true when you’re getting points with a team that has more upside and that sure looks to be the case here. Hornets did play yesterday at Phoenix, but they’ve done OK in back to back spots this year. Both teams are in bad shape right now both SU and ATS. The Hornets have lost 8 of 10 both SU and ATS and are currently mired in an 8 game pointspread losing streak. The Clippers have lost 7 straight SU, 9 of 10 SU and 15 of 19. Against the spread they haven’t fared much better going 1-6 ATS during their losing streak and are on a 6-13 ATS run overall. They do have a winning record at home at 18-14 which is likely why they’re favored here.
The Hornets play more team oriented basketball and that should be enough to get them a victory here. They’ve won *and covered* 10 straight against the Clippers, including the last 5 both SU/ATS in Los Angeles. We’ll take the team with more upside that has dominated the head to head series getting points. They should win outright and at the price that’s all we need them to do.
