Actually, the Bucks aren’t stopping here…they’re stopping in Detroit for a game against the Pistons. The girl in the photo is Tiffany and I have it on good authority that she’s a Milwaukee Bucks dancer. Even if she’s not, she’s close enough for our purposes. The Milwaukee Bucks are two games behind Charlotte for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Detroit Pistons have the look of a team that has thrown in the towel for the year. They’re currently 8 1/2 games out of the final playoff spot and while they technically are still in the hunt it would take a monumental run by the Pistons and they’ve not really demonstrated anything this year to suggest that they have that kind of run in them.
On a big day of NBA betting action we’ll take a look at a position on this game as well.
MILWAUKEE BUCKS VS. DETROIT PISTONS:
While the Bucks have become a decent home team with a 16-9 SU record they’re only 8-19 on the road. Despite this substandard road record, they’ve been competitive on most nights when playing away from home and have a 16-11 record against the pointspread on enemy courts. They’re also 14-8 ATS and won and covered their only spot as a road favorite this season. They’ve taken advantage of teams with losing records, going 17-10 SU and ATS. Pistons beat them at home in early February and the Bucks are actually a team that has done well avenging home losses going 7-3 ATS in that situation. Bucks have been a very solid moneymaker of late, covering 13 of their L18 games overall.
Detroit’s days of home court dominance are long gone. The Palace at Auburn Hills was once one of the most feared venues in the NBA, but the Pistons are just 13-15 SU and 12-14 ATS on their home floor. They’re 13-19 ATS as an underdog and just 1-3 SU/ATS as a home dog of less than 3. This game is currently a ‘pick’ but that last stat is particularly troublesome, as it suggests they don’t show up in potentially ‘winnable’ games. Pistons are also 10-15 ATS against teams with losing records. Detroit is just a mess right now and we’ll gladly back the team that seems to care more at this point and is actually still playing for a postseason spot.
