NBA Basketball News
With the NBA lockout having no end in sight and players weighing all sorts of options if the lockout continues through the NBA regular season, things are getting interesting in terms of players seriously thinking about playing overseas. Even though it seems to be the consensus that most players will seriously considering playing across the pond, there is one player that is thinking about going in another direction that no NBA player has thought about doing just yet.
That player is two-time Slam Dunk champion Nate Robinson of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Nate Robinson isn’t exactly a superstar like two-time scoring champion Kevin Durant or lightening quick point guard Russell Westbrook, but the shortest Slam Dunk champion in NBA history is multi-talented and considering trying out to play in the NFL.
The league might be in the middle of an NBA lockout that could last a very long time and there is no telling when we could see professional basketball being played in the United States again. With that being said, the players around the league have been considering their immediate futures and what they might do if the NBA lockout cuts into the upcoming NBA regular season.
There are few big-name players like Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant and Deron Williams that have already seriously considered playing overseas during the NBA lockout and one or all of them could test the waters across the pond. Even though it looks like a lot of star players will play overseas during the lockout, there are few that aren’t interested in playing internationally like Amare Stoudemire and reigning NBA MVP Derrick Rose.
With the NBA lockout currently underway and no end in sight, the future of this league is very much up in the air. Despite the fact that no one knows when NBA basketball will get back to business as usual, the teams in the league are preparing for free agency once the NBA lockout officially ends. With a lot of big-name role players available, there will be plenty of options for struggling franchises to make moves and improve both their starting lineups and bench mobs.
The one team that has been headed in a downward spiral as of late has been the Detroit Pistons. It was just a few years ago that the Pistons were arguably one of the best all-around teams in the Eastern Conference and a perennial NBA title contender, but after LeBron James destroyed them in the playoffs a few years, the team has fallen apart and started to lose their grip on their star players.
The Big AARP didn’t take long before deciding what direction he was going to go in after retiring from the NBA as he will now try his luck as an NBA analyst on TNT. These kind of moves are pretty common with former NBA and NFL players these days, but few players in either sport have the kind of personality like Shaquille O’Neal that will intrigue viewers on a nightly basis.
NBA legend Charles Barkley was the first outspoken NBA personality to make the transition to NBA analyst and the results have been awesome as Barkley is arguably the most popular analyst/NBA personality on the tube these days. Shaq has a very similar personality in comparison to Sir Charles, but might not be as opinionated.
