NBA Basketball Free Picks

A good sized slate of NBA betting action for Tuesday, and we’ll take a look at the Atlanta Hawks/New Jersey Nets game.  Hawks currently in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 1/2 game lead over 4th place Boston and 3 1/2 games behind second place Orlando.  Atlanta has won 11 of their L17 games overall.  New Jersey is still mired in last place in the conference without any real chance to escape the ignominious fate of having the worst record in the NBA.  Despite that they’ve been playing reasonably competitive basketball of late and have gone on a nice winning streak against the spread–even if it hasn’t translated into many SU victories.

ATLANTA HAWKS VS. NEW JERSEY NETS:

In a NBA betting matchup between two teams with losing records both SU and ATS the New Orleans Hornets head to the Staples Center to play the ‘other’ Los Angeles team, the Clippers.  Both teams are playing poorly right now, with the Hornets losing 8 of 10 SU, outdone by the Clippers run of 1-9 SU and current 7 game losing streak.  No surprise that the Hornets are 11th and the Clippers 12th in the Western Conference.

NEW ORLEANS HORNETS VS. LA CLIPPERS:

Or, how many ‘Z’s’ can we get into a title?  Incidentally, the cropped picture of the Jazz Dancer doesn’t do it justice–you owe it to  yourself to check out the full sized picture.  The Utah Jazz host the Washington Wizards tonight at the Energy Solutions Arena in the shadows of the Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake City, Utah.  If the NBA were high school, the Jazz would be a straight A student but one that is awkward with girls while the Wizards would ride the short bus and spend the day in a ’special’ class where they never seem to actually do work or learn anything.   The Jazz have lost two straight–on the road at Oklahoma City and Milwaukee, neither teams of which are a joke any more–but still hold down 4th place in the Western Conference just 1/2 game ahead of the aforementioned Thunder and 2 1/2 games behind third place Dallas.  Washington is in a heated battle with Indiana, Philadelphia, New York, Detroit and Indiana for the second worst record in the East (the Nets have already clinched the cellar).  The Wiz showed a little bit of life after Gilbert Arenas was suspended but now they’re a mess despite getting some good individual play from Randy Foye and Andray Blatche.  I’d say they’re in freefall, but that isn’t really fair to gravity to make that comparison.  Washington is 1-9 SU/3-7 ATS in their L10 but that’s nothing a West Coast road trip with stops in Utah, Denver, Portland and LA to play the Lakers won’t cure now is it?

Busy, busy weekend at sportsbooks all over the world with soccer, college hoops, horse racing and even some NBA betting. We’ll take a look at an interconference game between the New Jersey Nets and the Houston Rockets. By now everybody knows that the Nets are awful. 7-58 SU and 4-30 SU on the road. Houston is currently out of the Western Conference playoff racing and heading in the wrong direction. The Nets could be just what the doctor ordered to get the Rockets back in the playoff hunt. Or maybe not..
