NBA Basketball Betting Free Picks For Monday: Swarmin’ Hornets

Lots of interesting NBA betting opportunities on Monday’s card so we’ll give you a double dose of plays to feed your sports betting fix.  The San Antonio Spurs head to ‘The Big Easy’ to take on the Hornets who have played surprisingly well in the absence of their star guard Chris Paul.  The Hornets are in 9th place in the Western Conference, 3 games out of the #8 spot.  San Antonio is in 7th place, 1/2 game ahead of 8th place Portland.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS VS. NEW ORLEANS HORNETS:

Both teams played on Sunday, with the Spurs outlasting the Phoenix Suns and the Hornets losing to Dallas.  A lot of people wrote off the Hornets when Chris Paul went down with his knee injury, but they’ve been doing a good job in his absence.  Darren Collison has been putting up insane numbers in Paul’s absence.  In February, Collison averaged 21.6 points and 8.3 assists capped off by a 35 point performance against Dallas on Sunday.

This is a matchup that will have a lot of people instinctively thinking about taking the Spurs, but they’ve been a horrible investment on the road this season.  San Antonio is 10-16 ATS on the road including 2-5 as a road favorite of 3 or less.  On the other hand, New Orleans has been a great investment when getting points.  The Hornets are 21-13 ATS as an underdog and have shown a tendency to bring their ‘A game’ against good teams.  New Orleans is 21-10 ATS against teams with winning records.  Spurs have covered only 5 of their L17 games overall, while the Hornets have 8 of their L10.  New Orleans wins this one outright.

PLAY NEW ORLEANS +2′ OVER SAN ANTONIO
