The NBA All-Star reserves have officially been announced and there are no real surprises, a few questionable selections by the coaches, but there are some players that didn’t get selected that should have definitely gotten some serious consideration.

Here are the reserves for both the East and the West conferences:

Eastern Conferences Reserves

Rajon Rondo, Boston Celtics; Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls; Joe Johnson, Atlanta Hawks; Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics; Gerald Wallace, Charlotte Bobcats; Chris Bosh, Toronto Raptors; Al Horford, Atlanta Hawks

Western Conference Reserves

Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets; Deron Williams, Utah Jazz; Brandon Roy, Portland Trailblazers; Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder; Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks; Pau Gasol, Los Angeles Lakers; Zach Randolph, Memphis Grizzlies

Now all of these players selected in both conferences are without a doubt worthy of their selection, but here are the players in my opinion that got the shaft and will unfortunately miss this game

East

David Lee, New York Knicks

Perhaps the disappointing All-Star snub in the East was big man David Lee of the New York Knicks who has yet another great season on one of the worst teams in the league. With 19.4 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, Lee is by far the best player on the Knicks and probably would have gotten the selection if he weren’t on the Knicks.

Just another victim of being a great player on a bad team.

Antawn Jamison, Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards are an absolute disaster right now with the whole Gilbert Arenas situation going on right now. If Arenas playing gunslinger weren’t bad enough for the Wizards, Washington is having another nightmare season and have basically no hope for playoff push in the second half of the season, but Antawn Jamison is having a great year and should have gotten some consideration as an All-Star.

Joakim Noah, Chicago Bulls

The Bulls have struggled at times this season and have been very hot and cold, but Joakim Noah has arguably been the most consistent player on the team this season and is putting up some big numbers. With 11.3 ppg and 12.1 rpg Noah  is averaging a double-double and is second in the league in the rebounding department behind Dwight Howard. It is a shame he didn’t get the All-Star selection, but he will definitely be an All-Star in the near future.

Other notable East snubs: Andre Igoudala, Philadelphia 76ers; Josh Smith, Atlanta Hawks; Ray Allen, Boston Celtics

West

Chris Kaman, Los Angeles Clippers

It would be hard to argue that Chris Kaman isn’t the best all around center in the Western Conference right now. Yes, Kaman plays on the Clippers, but his numbers are undeniable (20.2 ppg, 9.1 rpg and 1.3 bpg) and he probably should have gotten the selection over Pau Gasol who has only played 17 games the entire season compared to Kaman has played in all 41 games this season.

Chauncey Billups, Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets are arguably one of the best teams in the Western Conference again this season and a legitimate title contender once again. Carmelo Anthony is in the running for MVP this season, but Billups isn’t getting the credit for picking up the slack while Melo is on the sidelines with injury. With 19.2 points per game Billups is arguably one of the best scoring point guards in the league, but gets no love from the coaches this time around.

Carlos Boozer, Utah Jazz

If it weren’t for point guard Deron Williams getting selected to come off the bench for the West, the Utah Jazz would have gone without representative in the All-Star game for the first time in quite some time.

Despite all the trade rumors surrounding Boozer over the last two seasons, Carlos has been dominant in the paint for the Jazz once again this season with 19.2 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
