Nate Robinson Wins Third NBA Dunk Contest

As the years pass by, more and more the NBA Dunk Contest continues to be awful without big names like LeBron James, Vince Carter and Kobe Bryant competing and the 2010 NBA Dunk Contest was no different as we witnessed little man Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks win his record third in uneventful fashion.

This time around everyone was looking forward to seeing LeBron James entering the contest and bringing us back to the Vince Carter days of the Dunk Contest after he said he would compete last season at All-Star weekend.

Unfortunately, LeBron decided not to compete and the Dunk Contest and as a result the contest was one of the worse competitions in recent memory as there were no new dunks and players like the Los Angeles Lakers Shannon Brown, who had been making the highlight reels all season long with high flying dunks, really disappointed everyone with some very mediocre dunks.

In the end, it came down to the two-time dunk champ Nate Robinson and youngster and dunk-in contestant DeMar Derozan from the Toronto Raptors.

Both of these high flyers had some great dunks in this dunk contest, but they were dunks we had seen many times before and basically bored the crap out of all the fans and all the people that were expecting to see some different.

Despite Derozan having some impressive dunks, all of which we had seen many times before, Nate Robinson became the NBA Dunk champ for a record third time and will probably only be remembered for being dunker instead of a pain in the side of New York Knicks head coach Mike D’Antoni.

Hopefully, the NBA will give some incentive to the best big name dunkers in the league like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Dwight Howard and Vince Carter to compete in this competition in the years to come or we will slowly, but surely see the NBA Dunk Contest become an event in NBA All-Star weekend that no one will want to see.
