Colin Montgomerie says he was only able to play in an EPGA tournament in Munich this past weekend because he got an injection of cow blood from a doctor whose name he does not know.  “I’m not shouting ‘Fore’ on the course any more – I’m shouting ‘Moo!’ said Europe’s Ryder Cup captain, showing off the dry British wit that has made him virtually irresistible to women.

Monty on the unusual treatment for his left calf:

I don’t even know the doctor’s name but he’s been brilliant. Absolutely fantastic. He drained blood out of the calf which came out black and that confirmed the muscle was torn. Then he put in some calf’s blood because there’s protein in it and it’s a great healer. … I’m taped-up and taking pain-killers. What a mess! I just put it down to old age and wear and tear.”

Even with the cow’s blood, Monty finished 9 shots behind winner David Horsey.  With the British Open three weeks away, Monty plans to also play tournaments the next two weekends in order to be less of a mess.
