It has been a rough season for the Tennessee Titans as they have gone from one of the best teams in the AFC to one of the worst in just one offseason, but things have started to turn around for head coach Jeff Fisher and company as the Titans have gotten back on track with four straight wins with quarterback Vince Young back behind center.
Last season the Tennessee Titans had a break out year after they made the switch to veteran quarterback Kerry Collins to lead this team after Vince Young had somewhat of a breakdown with thoughts of suicide. Once Collins became the leader of the team the Titans were red hot and ended up being one of the best teams in the NFL last season going into the playoffs.Unfortunately, their magical run last season ended with a loss to rookie quarterback Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens. Despite the early playoff exit, there seemed to be light of the end of the tunnel for the Titans as they came into this season with Super Bowl aspirations, but those expectations have not panned out as Tennessee dropped the first six games of the season.
At 0-6, the Titans were desperate and had to make a change at the request of Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams. The request made by the controversial owner was to put Vince Young back in and bench Kerry Collins.Even though Jeff Fisher wasn’t too happy about being forced to make the change at quarterback he made the move anyway and threw Vince Young back into the mix for the Titans.
As a result of the change the Titans have won four straight games, including last night’s victory over the Houston Texans on Monday night football. Young played brilliantly once again as he kept the Texans defense on their heels all night long with the Tennessee two headed monster running attack with Chris Johnson and himself.
Vince Young finished the game near perfect with 116 passing yards, 73 rushing yards and one passing touchdown. Running back Chris Johnson continued his streak of impressive performances was seemingly impossible to stop as he had another big game running the football with 151 rushing yards.
The Houston Texans did play well in this game as quarterback Matt Schaub led the team with 305 yards and two touchdowns, but it just wasn’t enough to beat Vince Young and company this time around as the Titans beat their AFC South rivals 20-17.
