The NFL season just keeps getting worse for the Washington Redskins as they continue to struggle after their NFC rival Philadelphia Eagles just dominated them on Monday Night Football 27-17.
The Redskins had absolutely no chance in this game as the Philly defense kept constant pressure on struggling Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell. The only player that seemed to show up for the Redskins in this game there $100 million dollar man in Albert Haynesworth. Despite having a bump wheel Haynesworth got after it on every down his was in the game, but it just wasn’t enough to hold off Donovan McNabb and company as they cruised to an easy rebound win after their surprising loss to the Oakland Raiders in week six.
The Eagles came out firing on all cylinders early as they did the bulk of their scoring in the first half with two touchdowns by wide receiver DeSean Jackson, an interception return for a touchdown by Will Witherspoon and two field goals by Eagles kicker David Akers.
That was pretty much all she wrote for the Redskins as they just couldn’t recover. Jason Campbell was able to throw a touchdown pass to Devin Thomas in the second quarter and throw late touchdown to backup tight end Fred Davis with about a minute and a half remaining in the fourth quarter, but it was just too little too late for Washington as they lost their third consecutive game and five game of the season.
Despite just getting out played by the Philadelphia Eagles, Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell had a pretty decent game considering being pressured as much as he was and sacked six times. Campbell finished the game with 284 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
It is not that Campbell isn’t a good quarterback because I really think he has potential, but this offense line is just terrible as the Eagles defensive line just craved them up all night long and gave Campbell no time what so ever to get rid of the football. If Campbell actually had some protection this game would be a different story in my opinion.
Unfortunately, the Redskins line couldn’t give Campbell protection and as a result the Redskins have fallen to a very mediocre 2-5 on the season and are at the bottom of the NFC East once again. The Eagles on the other hand seemed to have gotten back on track in this game and have improved their record to 4-2.
