The Tennessee Titans have arguably been the one of the hottest teams in the NFL over that last three weeks. Vince Young has reclaimed his role as the starting quarterback and running back Chris Johnson has quickly turned into one of the best backs in the league with almost 500 yards rushing in the last three games.
It was a rough first six weeks of the season for the once dominant Titans, but they have been able to rebound from an 0-6 start to the season after making the change at quarterback and sending veteran Kerry Collins back to the bench.
Granted the last three weeks of the season have been arguably the easiest part of the Titans tough schedule, but they have been able to finally correct their problems on offense by putting up 30 or more points in wins over the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers and last week over the Buffalo Bills.
This week will be the true test to see whether or not Vince Young has finally come back to life against the Houston Texans in front of his hometown fans in Texas. Young hasn’t put up monster numbers in the passing game, but he has limit his mistakes with only one interception in the past three games.
The one player to watch besides Vince Young in this game with be Titans running back Chris Johnson who has been the backbone of the Tennessee ground attack this year. If Young and Johnson can get it going once again in this game the Texans will be in trouble Monday night as Houston has struggled stopping the run all season long.
Despite the lack of ability to stop the run, the Houston Texans are have a good season thus far even though they are in third place just above the Tennessee Titans in the AFC South.
Obviously no team in the AFC South will be able to catch up to the undefeated Indianapolis Colts at this point, but with only four losses on the season the Texans do have a chance of competing for the AFC Wildcard if they can continue to win games to finish out the regular season. Quarterback Matt Schaub and his favorite target Andre Johnson has been one of the best one-two punches in the NFL this season, but the Texans suffered a huge blow to their offense recently when their tight end Owen Daniels went down with an injury and will be out for the year. Daniels was having a breakout year and was quickly becoming a major part of the offense.
Even though Daniels is done for the season, the Texans still have a potent offense and will be a force to be reckoned with for the Titans defense on Monday night.
As of right now the Houston Texans are favored by -4 points, but I believe the Titans will be able to pull off the upset if Chris Johnson and Vince Young get going early!
