The NFC East division always seems to be the toughest and most competitive division in the NFL with three to four teams that are playoff contenders to start every season, but this season with a few weeks left before the playoffs the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys look like the only two teams in the division that are playoff bound.
The Philadelphia Eagles were able to clinch a playoff this past Sunday with a win over the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys had arguably their best game of the season as they were able to hand the once unbeaten New Orleans Saints their first loss of the season.
With the Eagles and the Cowboys on top of their game, the New York Giants are on the outside looking in as their only hope for a playoff berth is through the NFC Wildcard which is a stretch at this point in time with the Green Bay Packers and the Cowboys being the two teams on the verge of clinching the two Wildcard spots.
From here on out, Eli Manning and the New York Giants have to play flawlessly as they will have to win their last three games of the season to just remain in the hunt for one of the final playoff spots in the NFC conference.
As for the Washington Redskins, they are dead last in the NFC East division and have had yet another disappointing season in the Daniel Synder era in Washington with a 4-9 record coming into week 15. When the Redskins have played at the top of their game this season they have been tough to beat, but injuries have just ravaged Clinton Portis and company this season as they will almost certainly end the season with a lot of questions of the futures of some of their best players.
Earlier in the season, superstar running back Clinton Portis went down with a concussion which was thought to keep him out a couple games, but ultimately ended his season and might have ended his NFL career entirely. Along with Portis, backup running back Ladell Betts also went down with injury and was also put on the IR.
These two injuries have been huge and basically ended the Redskins hopes of turning around their disappointing season. With that being said Washington really doesn’t have anything to play for besides ending their division rivals slight hopes of making it back into the playoffs.
Any time NFC East teams go head to head it is an all out battle as none of these teams like each other. So regardless of the outcome and whether or not Giants make it to the postseason, this game will be one to watch just for the entertainment factor!
