Back in week 10 we were all witnesses to perhaps the game of the year in the NFL when the Indianapolis Colts came from behind in the fourth quarter to beat the New England Patriots35-34. Not only was this the most anticipated game of the season as it usually is, but the game was as advertised as the Patriots and the Colts battled it out in another classic performance by these two AFC heavyweights.
The week 10 between the Colts and Patriots will be hard to live up to, but this week’s Monday night football matchup just might do it as the New England Patriots take on yet another undefeated opponent in the 10-0 New Orleans Saints.
Coming into this week 12 matchup of arguably two of the best teams in the league, both the New England Patriots (AFC East) and the New Orleans Saints (NFC South) are first place in their divisions and are destined for the playoffs this season unless they just fall apart in the last few weeks of the season. With that being said both of these teams will be looking for nothing more than bragging rights and one step closer to home field advantage through the playoffs with a win on Monday night football.
The key to this game, as it has been for every game these two teams have played this season, will be offense, offense and more offense. Patriots struggled on offense to start the season, but ever since they destroyed the Tennessee Titans in week six 59-0, New England and Tom Brady have gotten back on track on the offensive side of the football.
The New Orleans Saints on the other hand have been damn near unstoppable on offense this season led by MVP candidate quarterback Drew Brees. Along with their dominance on offense this season, the Saints have arguably one of the frontrunners for defensive player of the year in safety Darren Sharper who has seven interceptions this season.
Of course every team in the NFL wants to do the seemingly impossible and go an entire season undefeated, in fact the Patriots came just one game short a couple of seasons ago, but in order to do that this season Drew Brees and the Saints will have to get passed Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in week 12.
