The Brett Favre saga with the Minnesota Vikings continues!
Coming into this NFL season there were a lot of questions regarding Brett Favre’s health and ability to be able to give the Minnesota Vikings what the so desperately needed in a franchise quarterback. Obviously, Favre isn’t going to be around for long at 40 years of age, but by signing a two year contract with the Vikings it gives Minnesota hope to make a run at a Super Bowl title for at least these two seasons.
This season has arguably been the best of Brett Favre’s long career in the NFL as he has been extremely efficient and has really limited his interceptions with just seven to his 27 touchdown passes. Those numbers are amongst the best in the league and will almost certainly get better after his Monday night football showdown with the Chicago Bears.
There are two games left in the NFL regular season and the Minnesota Vikings have already clinched the NFC North division and a playoff berth, so this game against the division rival Chicago Bears really doesn’t mean all that much, but you can bet that the Vikings will be looking to prove they are still one of the best teams in the NFL regardless by making an example of the lowly Bears.
If the Vikings get out to a comfortable early lead, Vikings head coach Brad Childress, who has butted heads with his future hall of fame quarterback as of late, will pull Brett Favre to rest him for preparation for the playoffs down the road.
With Brett Favre and possibly Adrian Peterson watching from the sidelines the Chicago Bears have a shot at making this a competitive football game, but even with their two offensive superstars on the bench, the Vikings defense is still a force to be reckoned with and will almost certainly look to be Bears quarterback Jay Cutler’s worst nightmare for the second time this season.
Back on November 29th, the Bears and the Vikings went head to head in what turned out to be a predictable blowout 36-10. Brett Favre couldn’t be stopped with 392 passing yards and three touchdowns and Adrian Peterson was getting it done in the ground game with 85 rushing yards and a score of his own. This week, I expect more of the same as the Bears are just a team really struggling to get anything going on both sides of the football.
Chicago might be able to make a game of it late in the second half, but most likely the Minnesota Vikings will cruise to their 12th victory of the season.
