This Monday night it looks like we will have another hard fought battle on the gridiron in the NFL as the NFC West leading Arizona Cardinals go to San Francisco to take on their division rival in the 49ers.
It has been an interesting season for both of these teams as they have both been hot and cold at times this year. The Arizona Cardinals started off slow at the beginning of this season with a loss to the San Francisco 49ers who looked like legitimate playoff contenders and seemed to have a shot at the NFC West title, but then both teams went in opposite directions. The Arizona Cardinals and Kurt Warner may have stubbed their toe early out of the gate, but since then they have been red hot and will come into this Monday night matchup against the San Francisco 49ers the lead in the NFC West and have an impressive 8-4 record.
The San Francisco 49ers on the other hand have improved their football this season under new head coach Mike Singletary, but haven’t been able to keep a good thing going as they have lost five of the last seven games. Singletary made a drastic move this season by replacing starting quarterback Shaun Hill in favor of backup quarterback and former number one draft pick Alex Smith going into their bye week in week five. The change at quarterback had an immediate effect for the 49ers as Alex Smith has seemed to be the answer for the troubled San Francisco offense, but the change has yet to result in creating a contender.Despite the 5-7 record of the San Francisco 49ers, I believe they are still a good team and a force to be reckoned with, but they are done for the season and a win over the Cardinals in this game will just be the highlight of the season for Mike Singletary and company.
It has been a rough season for the 49ers, but I would keep an eye on this young team as they have the potential to be very good in the near future!
