Cincinnati Reds (0-0) @ Philadelphia Phillies (0-0)

Date: Wednesday October 6th, 2010

Time: 5:07 pm EST

Preview: The winner of the National League Central will head east and take on the winner of the National League East. The Reds are playing in the playoffs for the first time since 1995 while the Phillies are looking to be the first National League team in 66 years to win three straight pennants. The Reds are sending youngster Edinson Volquez to the mound. Volquez finished the season with a 4-3 record and 4.31 earned run average. The Reds will turn to the offense of MVP candidate Joey Votto in this one. Votto led Cincinnati in batting average (.324), homeruns (37), runs batted in (113) and runs scored (106). Cincinnati as a team hit .272, which ranked fourth in all of baseball. The offense for Philadelphia was inconsistent, but when on the top of their game was very dangerous.

After struggling through most of the first half of the season, Philadelphia finished with the top record in the National League and holds home field advantage all the way through postseason. The Phillies are led offensively by the power of Ryan Howard. The slugging first basemen finished with 31 homeruns and 108 runs batted in. Former CY Young, and 2010 candidate Roy Halladay will get the baseball for the Phillies. Halladay finished this season with 21 wins for Philadelphia. In early July, when these two teams played a four game series in Philadelphia, the Phillies won all four games.

My Betting Picks: Phillies win big. 10-3.
