More baseball betting on Thursday with a number of daytime games. There’s nothing I love more than daytime baseball betting. You haven’t lived until you’ve hung out in a Las Vegas sportsbook knocking back a cold one sweating out a totals play while the rest of the world is at work. Anyway we’re back in the Jet City for an afternoon game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners. Blue Jays won the first game of the series, and are now one game behind the Yankees for second place in the AL East. They’re still 5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays, who have the best record in baseball. We’ve found another Blue Jays dog for today–he’s out at the ballpark for ‘Dog Day’ but he looks like he’s trying to find a spot to take a nap. This game goes at 12:40 PM Pacific, so it’ll be a perfect time for a nap.
TORONTO BLUE JAYS VS. SEATTLE MARINERS–12:40 PM PACIFIC/3:40 PM EASTERN:
A couple of southpaws hooking up in today’s pitching matchup. Neither team hits LHP particularly well, so we’re thinking that’s a wash. We’ve used Toronto’s Ricky Romero several times this year, and he’s one of the best kept secrets in the bigs. He checks in here with a 2.88 ERA and the Jays have won 6 of his 8 starts. Jason Vargas has also pitched well this year with a 2.93 ERA but the Mariners are only 3-4 in his starts which says more about the team as a whole than it does about his considerable talent.
So that brings us back to the team vs. team matchup, and that’s why we’re all over the Blue Jays here. They’re 25-17 overall and they’ve been excellent away from home, with a 14-6 record. Seattle in a downward spiral, with a 8-11 mark at home and they’ve lost 13 of their last 16 games. We’ll take the much better team at a reasonable price.
