Baseball betting takes us out to California tonight as the San Francisco Giants take on the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. Today’s picture is of Chloe, who was one of the competitors in last year’s “America’s Fastest Chihuahua” event at Petco. So even if she isn’t rolling in Padres gear, she’s definitely a fan. Most of the time when I search for images on the Google I am subjected to any number of awful things, but today–in addition to the picture of Chloe the Chihuahua I found a great rescue group based in San Francisco that focuses on finding adoptive homes for senior dogs. As a senior dog owner myself, I can attest to the fact that they’re great companions. In any case, if you’re in the Bay Area looking for a dog or if you want to send them some scratch to help support their work you can do so here:

SAN DIEGO PADRES VS. SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS:
We’ve used the San Diego Padres a good deal this season, and until the prices catch up to what a good team they are we’ll keep doing it. Padres extended their lead over San Fran atop the NL West to 1.5 games with a victory on Monday night, and we like them to do it again tonight. On the hill for San Diego is Mat Latos, who is a legit superstar of the future and one that’s pitching pretty well now. He’s got a 3.32 ERA overall, a 2.55 ERA at home. Oh, and in his last three starts he’s given up 2 ER and has an ERA of 0.78. In his previous two starts–both shutouts–he’s allowed a grand total of 3 hits. I think that’s pretty good or something. He pitched a complete game, 1 hit shutout against this very same Giants team in his last start. Latos also shutout the Giants earlier this season, though he allowed a whopping total of *four* hits in that game. Not bad for a 22 year old.
The Giants’ Jonathan Sanchez is a solid pitcher in his own right, and was something of a tough luck loser in the aforementioned Latos 1 hitter (and, for that matter, the aforementioned Latos 4 hitter where Sanchez pitched 7 innings of 1 hit ball). Sanchez pitched 7.5 innings, allowing 1 ER on 3 hits. Despite a lower runs per game output against southpaws, however, San Diego is cleaning up against them in the W/L column. Padres are 7-2 against lefties this year good for +5.9 units of profit. Plus, for whatever reason they’ve just owned the Giants this year–they swept the series at San Fran last week, swept an earlier series at home and have won the first game in this series which means that the Giants are ohfer seven on the season against San Diego. Great pitching matchup between a couple of guys that will be household names in the next few years, but we’ll back the Padres based on their YTD dominance of San Francisco.
