Date: Friday September 10th, 2010
Time: 7:07 pm EST
Preview: The Tampa Bay Rays will head to the Rogers Centre to take on the Toronto Blue Jays in the first of a three game series on Friday evening. The Rays come in with the second best record in baseball, and the current American League wildcard leader. Tampa Bay trails New York by 2.5 games for the top spot in the American League East. The Rays have been led by Carl Crawford, and his .304 batting average, along with Carlos Pena’s 26 homeruns. The pitching for Tampa Bay has been solid, with a 3.84 earned run average, led by David Price, and his 2.87. Price also leads the team with 17 wins, which puts him in position to be in the running for the American League Cy Young. Another young pitcher, Wade Davis will make the start Friday for Tampa Bay. Davis is 11-9 with a 4.39 earned run average this season. In his career, the Rays right hander is 13-11.
The Blue Jays will go with the 12-8 Ricky Romero in the game. Romero has an earned run average of 3.51 on the season. In his career, the 25 year old from California is 25-17. Toronto comes into the game five games above .500, but 14.5 games out of first place in the AL East. The Blue Jays lead all of baseball with 216 homeruns, led by third base men Jose Bautista. Bautista has a league leading 43 homeruns, and also has 105 runs batted in and 92 runs scored. The pitching has been a struggle for Toronto, as they rank 19th in earned run average with a 4.15 earned run average.
My MLB Baseball Betting Pick: Tampa Bay continues to roll. Rays win 7-5.
