The more Martin Brodeur ages, the better he gets. He’s like George Clooney that way.
The New Jersey Devils goal tender is playing as well as he ever has at the age of 37, making 28 saves for his third shutout in seven games Tuesday night in his team’s 4-0 win over the Dallas Stars.
With his fifth shutout of the season, Marty has extended his NHL record by posting career shutout No. 106. Ridiculous.
“The team is playing well, and it’s a big team effort anytime you have a shutout,” the humble Brodeur said. “Sometimes it’s like a goal scorer, they come in streaks. You get one, then you get a few.”
Patrick Elias scored twice for New Jersey while Travis Zajac and Zach Parise both added goals, as well. Captain Jamie Langenbrunner enjoyed two assists for Eastern Conference-leading Devils, who ended a two-game losing streak to the Stars with their ninth victory in 11 games.
When you’re hot, you’re hot.
