Bill Maher, who the NFL’s official website describes as a “liberal comedian,” ignited a mini-Twitter brimstoney firestorm with a Christmas Eve tweet mocking Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow’s four-interception performance in a big loss to the Buffalo Bills. Tebow hasn’t responded, but at least one Twitter user is calling for a boycott of HBO, which airs Maher’s Real Time program.

Maher’s tweet: “Wow, Jesus just f***ed #TimTebow bad! And on Xmas Eve! Somewhere in hell Satan is tebowing, saying to Hitler ‘Hey, Buffalo’s killing them.'”

Buffalo won the game 40-14, thanks in part to returning two Tebow interceptions for touchdowns in the fourth quarter when Tebow usually works miracles. It was Denver’s second straight loss, but they can still win the AFC West with a win over Kansas City next week, or if San Diego beats Oakland. Tebow had his own postgame tweet about losing being bad but Christmas being awesome: “Tough game today but what’s most important is being able to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas everyone GB2.”

One Fox News hack had his own nasty tweet for Maher: “Bill Maher is disgusting vile trash. I can’t even repeat what he just tweeted about Tebow..on Christmas Eve. #straighttohellBill.”
