Sherdog is reporting that Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion, Gegard Mousasi, has signed a contract extension.
Promotion CEO, Scott Coker, confirmed Friday that the 24-year-old Dutch fighter’s contract has been renewed for another two years with a four fight minimum.
Mousasi was one-half of the M-1 Global representation on Strikeforce’s roster with pound-for-pound superstar, Fedor Emelianenko, until recently parting ways with the international organization last February.
In an interview conducted on Sirius satellite radio, the 205lbs kingpin expressed his desires to stay with the San Jose based company, but refused to disclose his current representation.
Regardless, the Dutchman will have to defend his title this Saturday, April 17th, on CBS against undefeated Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal (6-0) in Nashville, TN.
It is one of three championship bouts that will be televised starting at 9pm ET: Shinya Aoki vs. Gelbert Melendez for the lightweight strap and Jake Shields vs. Dan Henderson for the middleweight belt.
