With some soccer hooligans all over the world often showing what animals they can be on occasion, it could be a recipe for disaster in England on May 24 when Leicester City of the Premier League plans on handing out free beer to the fans. It’s surprising that the local police will allow it, but thankfully each fan will just be given one free beer. Those who aren’t yet drinking age will receive a free bottle of water.

Leicester City is celebrating during their season finale match at home since they staved off relegation a week earlier with a 0-0 draw in Sunderland. The club, which was promoted from the English Championship League last season, is guaranteed at least one more year in the top tier of English football. They achieved this by winning six and drawing one of their last eight matches for 19 out of a possible 24 points.

This run of points allowed them to climb out of the last three and into 14th place in the 20-team league with one game to go. So to reward the club’s fans, the owners are giving all fans a voucher for a beer or water in their match against last place Queens Park Rangers.

Leicester released an official announcement regarding the promotion which said, “We want to say thank you to our fans for their incredible support this season. Even during the most difficult times of the season, when everyone thought we had no chance, our loyal fans continued to believe and continued to get behind the team. Our players have been continually inspired by their support, which has been a key factor in the team securing another season of Premier League football.”

This isn’t the first time the club’s owners have paid their fans back with a small type of thank-you gesture. The team also recently handed out free breakfasts for 3,000 of its fans who were traveling to an away game to support the squad. Considering they’re handing out just one beer to fans their shouldn’t be any trouble. However, it could still be tempting fate if the fans have spent the previous couple of hours at the pub.
