This summer has been interesting to say the least in the NBA as we have seen some drastic changes to some of the most storied franchises in the league.

Heading into next season, the Los Angeles Lakers will most likely be considered the frontrunner to repeat as NBA champs for the third time in a row, but if LeBron James decides to sign with the Miami Heat and play alongside both Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, the Lakers will be given a run for their money as the league’s best team.

Obviously, there are a lot of questions surrounding this possible decision by LeBron James as many people think he will not want to take a back seat to Dwyane Wade in his town. If LeBron has shown us anything over the last couple of years, in which he won the NBA MVP in two straight seasons, is that he has gone from humble hometown boy to egotistical NBA superstar.

Personally, I really liked LeBron James when he first came into the league as he live up to the hype and didn’t have the typical ego of a superstar, but as the years have gone by and everyone has jumped on the LeBron bandwagon, King James is now arguably the owner of the biggest ego in the league.

A perfect of example of LeBron’s developed ego is this spectacle that he is putting Thursday night at 9pm EST on ESPN just to announce his free agent decision. This has never happen in the history of the league and even though this one-hour special will get insane ratings, I believe that LeBron may have taken this spotlight and attention a little too far.

Reportedly, the two-time NBA MVP seems to leaning towards signing with the Miami Heat. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks are still in the running to sign the superstar free agent, but late reports have LeBron moving his throne to Miami to play alongside Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

In my opinion, LeBron will be giving up too much not to sign with the New York Knicks as he will turn into even more of a global icon by playing in the biggest NBA market in the Big Apple.
