Coming into their playoff series against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Chicago Bulls didn’t think they had much of a chance of advancing to the second round as the Cavs are arguably the best team in the league this season.
Not only do the Cavs have one the most talented starting fives in the NBA right now with Shaq, Antawn Jamison and LeBron James leading the way, but they are a very tough team to beat, especially in a seven games series.
It is no secret that LeBron James and company have their sights set on an NBA title and if they don’t achieve that goal this season will be considered somewhat of a failure, but they have no intentions of giving the Chicago Bulls any kind of chance of in the first round by attempting to sweep Derrick Rose’s squad.
In game one, the Bulls were absolutely dominated inside the paint as the Cavs big men were able to impose their will, but in game two Vinny Del Negro did not want more of the same and started to crack down on Shaq in the middle.
Unfortunately for Del Negro and the Bulls, LeBron James was ready to explode in game two as he proceeded to light up the Chicago Bulls for a playoff high 40 points (this season), eight assists and eight rebounds.
Obviously, LeBron was due for a big game in the playoffs, so this is no real surprise, but the Bulls were hoping to head back to Chicago with the series tied up at 1-1. The one thing that has been impressive about the Bulls so far has been the play of Joakim Noah (25 points, 13 rebounds) and especially Derrick Rose (23 points, eight assists and two steals).
These two players are the heart and soul of the Chicago Bulls and they continue to show that in the playoffs against the Cleveland Cavaliers as they seem like the only two players on the team that aren’t ready to bow down to the mighty Cavs.
The Bulls did outscore the Cavs in both the second and third quarter and looked like they might be able to give the Cavs a run for their money, but LeBron flipped a switch and left the Bulls in the dust and down 0-2 heading back to the United Center.
