For most people, crime doesn’t pay, but that isn’t exactly the case for running back Joseph Randle of the Dallas Cowboys. The NFL player was recently arrested for shoplifting at the Stonebriar Center Shopping Mall in Frisco Texas, and was then rewarded with a contract from a clothing company. For some unknown reason Randle decided it was a good idea to steal two-pairs of Polo underwear and a bottle of cologne.

Police said they were called to the store by the location’s security personnel after they detained the 22-year-old football player. They then took him to Frisco City Jail where he was charged with a Class B misdemeanor for stealing items worth between $50 and $500. He was then released after a bond was posted.

The running back, who makes per year $495,000 with the Cowboys this year, was fined a week’s wages after the club found out about the shoplifting incident. But apparently something positive came out of the situation as a company called MeUndies made a deal with Randle which will see him donate $15,000 worth of clothes and underwear to needy children in the Dallas area.

MeUndies sent out a tweet on their Twitter account to announce the deal with Randle. It added that Randle takes full responsibility for his inappropriate actions and would like t apologize to the NFL, his teammates, coaches, family, friends, and of course, the Dillards Department Store where he stole the items from. It added that Randle realizes that he can turn a negative situation into a positive one by teaming up with MeUndies as people in need will benefit from it.

Randle was chosen in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma State. As of October 19, he’s had rushed for 120 yards so far in the 2014 NFL season on 18 carries for an average of 6.7 yards per carry, which ranks him second on the team. It’s believed the Cowboys fined him $29,117 for his indiscretion based on his annual salary after he met with the team’s head coach and vice president. However, the club announced that he won’t be suspended. Randle told the press that shoplifting the cologne and underwear was the biggest mistake he’s made in his life.
