John Daly has capitalized on the absence of Tiger Woods, stealing the show after losing 116 pounds. He cleans up nice.
I’m not sure I’d go as far as saying Daly is “hot” but he is certainly looking good. Okay, he’s kinda hot, in a scruffy, drunk, perverted, bad pants sort of way. Hey, some chicks dig that kind of thing.
Best known for loving beer, Hooters and cigars, the golfer may look different, but is he different? Right around this time last year, he was found passed out outside of a North Carolina Hooters, and later mangled a fan’s camera in Australia. The PGA Tour reacted by serving him with a six-month suspension, and it seemed like we had heard the last of him.
Daly had lap-band surgery and now weighs 185 pounds. So what’s next? Obviously, a book and then a movie. So, who would play him? When asked, he mentioned buddy Kevin James as the before. And the after?
“I just saw Matt Damon, how he swung a golf club, and I thought if I ever made a movie, I want him to be me,” Daly said.
Mhmmm… and I’d like a 23-year old Sophia Loren to play me in a movie.
Daly, who is right in the middle of his redemption tour, is back. And that’s good for golf.

And lets not forget John Daly is the #1 most influential Pro Golfer on Twitter. He sits at 39,342 followers – others may have more…but John Daly keeps it real. He communicates (tweets) directly with his fans rather than have some PR person masquerade on his behalf. He has a direct link to his fan base and they love him for it. Just one more indicator that John may be a lot sharper than people give him credit for.
I thought it was great that he wore pink pants in support of Phil’s wife, who is battling breast cancer, earlier this year. Also, I’m impressed that he called out other golfers who were spouting off about Tiger’s personal life. Love John Daly, and glad he’s back. I hope he’s a changed man on the inside as well!
The author is ignorant of John Daly. First of all he smashed the camera after the suspension, so it did not contribute to any decision made by the commish. Also Daly is best knwn for cigarettes constantly, not cigars, drinking diet Coke constantly, eating M&Ms all day being very generous to various charities , and getting drunk a fair amout.
He’s a great guy.
