Since its inception, Bellator has been known for it’s spectacular finishes with rare submissions and highlight reel knockouts. Last night they had their greatest war ever — Eddie Alvarez vs. Michael Chandler for the Bellator Lightweight World Championship. It was not only one of the best fights of 2011, it’s one of the best fights I’ve ever seen.

“Chandler vs. Alvarez was quite simply the best mixed martial arts fight I have ever seen,” said Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney. “After having watched over 1000 fights since the early 1990’s, I’ve never seen a better back and forth battle. Chandler’s win over Alvarez is a win over a fighter who I believed was the best lightweight in the world, while at the same time is a testament to what Bellator is all about.”

Bellator likes to go through the tournament process to determine who gets title shots, with one of it’s slogans being “Where title shots are earned, not given”. But we NEED to see a rematch of this post-haste.
