India vs Sri Lanka Odds – 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup Final

India aiming for second Cricket World Cup championship against Sri Lanka.

The 2011 Cricket World Cup final will take place between India and Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai, India on April 2nd. The two teams have met 128 times in the past with India winning 67 games, Sri Lanka 50 and there were 11 no results. India will have the home crowd behind them and that could be a major factor in this match. India has won just two World Cup games while Sri Lanka has beaten them four times with one no result.

Sri Lanka beat New Zealand by five wickets in the semi final after New Zealand scored 210 runs all out in 48.5 overs in their innings for a 4.44 run average per over. Sri Lanka came to bat and scored 220 runs for five in 47.5 overs for 4.59 runs per over. However, Sri Lanka struggled late in their innings after it looked like they’d have no problem winning the match and won it with just 13 balls remaining. Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 73 runs on 93 balls and hit 10 fours and a six. Kumar Sangakkara scored 54 runs on 79 balls with seven fours and a six.

In the other semi final, India beat Pakistan by 29 runs in another close match. India batted first and scored 260 for nine in 50 overs for a run average of 5.20 per over. Sachin Tendulkar was the top batsman with 85 runs on 115 balls with 11fours. The rest of the Indian batsmen had sub-par days and they can’t afford that against Sri Lanka. However, Virender Sehwag did chip in with 38 runs on 25 balls with 9 fours. Pakistan batted and scored 231 all out in 49.5 overs for a run rate of 4.63.

Suresh Raina could be a key for India, but Ashish Nehra has a broken finger and is likely out. All-rounder Yusuf Pathan could be in the team because of his powerful batting even though he’s struggled so far. Angelo Mathews and Murali are questionable and they could be replaced by Chaminda Vaas and Suraj Randiv if they’re not fit. Sachin Tendulkar needs to have a big game if India is to win the Cup and he’s still shooting for his hundredth century in one-day cricket internationals.

Sri Lanka will be relying on Kumar Sangakkara to produce if they are to be successful. The 33-year-old has averaged 42 runs against India during games on their home soil. And speaking of home soil, India is aiming to become the first team to win the World Cup at home.
