The NBA Finals has taken a turn for the worst for the Dallas Mavericks once again as the Miami Heat were able to bounce back from their Game 2 loss in South Beach to win Game 3 on the Mavs’ home floor at American Airlines Center on Sunday night. Even though it was another close finish which could have very easily gone either way, the Miami Heat were the better team on Sunday night as Dwyane Wade and company were able to get the best of Dirk Nowitzki and his boys, 88-86.
With just seconds remaining on the clock in the fourth quarter and the Dallas Mavericks down by two, the Mavs put the ball in the hands of their superstar to tie up the game and go into overtime or win the game. With a decent look near the top of the key, the German superstar took his shot to tie the game and came up just short. As the final buzzer sounded, the Miami Heat had gotten themselves right back into this series and in some people’s opinion may have taken complete control of the NBA Finals.
Even though there will be two more games played at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, the Miami Heat are playing at such a high level on both ends of the floor in this series that they are extremely confident they will be the team to come when it is all said and done.
Dwyane Wade led the way for the Miami Heat in Game 3 with a team-high 29 points and 11 rebounds, but that was almost not enough to hold off Dirk Nowitzki who got red-hot in the fourth quarter. After scoring the Mavs’ last 12 points, the perennial All-Star forward finished the game 34 points, but missed the final shot of the game with time expiring.
The biggest problem for the Dallas Mavericks late in the game was Dirk Nowitzki got no help from his teammates offensively. Jason Terry missed his last four shots and no other player on Dallas had significant impact late in the game.
Ultimately, the Miami Heat went on to win and may have proven to most people that they are the better all-around team and destined to become NBA champions.
