The PGA tour’s second-to-last tournament of the season starts this Thursday at the Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi. As is with most late-season events, the star power leaves a bit to be desired in this one. However, there is certainly still money to be made at this week’s event. (Odds  to win the tournament are included with each player.)

Alex Cejka 33/1

The always dangerous Czech finished 8^th last week and will be looking for a positive finish to a somewhat disappointing season. He could be in the hunt come the Sunday’s final back nine.

Heath Slocum  28/1

I mentioned Slocum in last week’s column and he responded with a very solid 13 under par score for the tournament, good enough for tied for 8^th place in the field. Slocum is swinging  a hot stick and has been in the hunt for a few tournaments in a row. He is now ranked #31 on the PGA’s money list and could add to that handsome total ($2.195 million) this week. His odds aren’t nearly as good this week (last week was 60/1) but he’s still worth a shot considering his consistently elevated level of play over the past weeks.

Troy Matteson 28/1

Speaking of going with the hot hand, take a chance on Matteson who won last week’s Fry.com Open. Before last week’s event Matteson had only finished in the top 25 four times all year. He changed that by firing 61s (!!!) in the second and third rounds en route to victory. It is extremely rare that any player repeats, but if Matteson can muster any more of that low-60s magic, he could be worth a nice little wager.

Tim Herron 70/1

Here’s a flyer for you. Big Boy Tim Herron has been playing well of late. He put in a very solid round of 68/68/66/66 at Frys.com and has finished in the top 30 of five of his last seven tournaments. While I wouldn’t necessarily bet a fortune on tubbo, at 70/1 he’s hitting the ball well enough to deserve some attention.
