The Denver Nuggets received some bad news recently as they learned that their leading scorer Carmelo Anthony would most likely not sign the three-year contract extension worth $65 million dollars that he was offered and would rather be traded to either the New Jersey Nets, Houston Rockets or the New York Knicks.
Ever since LeBron James and Chris Bosh decided to be part a of a new big three with the Miami Heat alongside Dwyane Wade, a lot of high profile players around the league have started to think about the future and their chances of being able to compete in the NBA with teams like the Miami Heat and the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers most likely dominating the next five years.
The first NBA superstar that started to make ways and seriously consider demanding a trade was the New Orleans Hornets All-Star point guard Chris Paul.
Reportedly, Paul was unhappy with what the Hornets doing next to nothing in the offseason in order to put a competitive basketball team on the floor next season. After realizing that the Hornets probably wouldn’t be able to compete with the best of the best in the league, CP3 decided that it was time to move on, but even though a trade demand seemed to be on the horizon he is staying in New Orleans for the time being.
One rumor that has been flying around the NBA as of late has been the possibility of another big three being formed around Amare Stoudemire in the Big Apple, but no moves have been made as of yet to make this happen, but Carmelo Anthony was thought to be part of that big three with Stoudemire and Paul.
In the meantime, Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl has come out and said that he hopes that Carmelo Anthony will stay in the Mile High City as they could still have a title contending team that will be force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference.
The team’s leading scorer still hasn’t officially said that he wants a trade, but the team seems to be prepared for a potential trade involving their best player.
