Scott Hartnell of the Philadelphia Flyers is used to facing the world’s strongest competition in the NHL.  To recover from the heartbreak of losing in the Stanley Cup Finals, Hartnell is focusing on a new challenge this offseason — tennis.  Channeling his inner Bobby Riggs and Andy Kaufman, Hartnell is challenging the world’s number one women’s tennis player, Serena Williams.

Williams has agreed to teach Hartnell a lesson next Tuesday during halftime of her World TeamTennis match at the Pavilion at Villanova University. So Serena will not only play for her team, the Washington Kastles, and embarrass the home town Philadelphia Freedoms — she’ll also embarrass Hartnell in front of thousands upon thousands of Flyers fans.

Hartnell, who racked up 155 penalty minutes last year, is sure to hear from rival players fans about getting his ass kicked by a girl.
