As Tiger Woods was trying his gosh-darnedest to win the 2010 US Open at Pebble Beach, a plane flew overhead towing a banner that read “Tiger, Are You My Daddy?” The intrepid investigative journalists at TMZ have found that the pilot who flew that plane was on his way for a second pass with a new banner — “Happy Father’s Day Tiger LOL” — when he was contacted by air traffic control with a message from the FBI.
In a post-flight report, the pilot said the FBI “strongly urged” him to “depart the area” over Pebble Beach ASAP, and he acquiesced. The FAA told TMZ the FBI would only intervene if “criminal activity” was suspected — and last I heard, being hilarious was not a crime.
Tiger finished tied for 4th, three shots behind winner Graeme McDowell, so perhaps one banner threw him off just enough. Recent allegations surfaced that Tiger fathered children out of wedlock, so the banner could be referencing some of those children.
Friday was also the birthday of one of Tiger’s legitimate children — his daughter turned three. Tiger had previously promised he’d never miss another of his son’s birthdays ever again, and estranged wife Elin may be seeking full custody in the impending divorce. I think you’d have to be an idiot though not to assume that I promise never to miss a birthday doesn’t include the addendum, a birthday that doesn’t overlap a major or the Ryder Cup.
