Mason Raymond, who has been on a absolute tear for the past couple of weeks, scored three times in a 14:15 span Sunday night, completing the natural hat trick in the Vancouver Canucks’ 5-1 victory over the Calgary Flames.
The 24-year-old left winger scored twice in 34 seconds late in the first period to give Calgary a 4-1 lead, and polished off his first career hat trick on a power play at 12:31 in the second to give himself a career-high 17 goals on the season.
“It’s always fun to do it in front of friends and family,” the youngster said of his trick in the Saddledome. “I grew up watching Calgary so you always remember coming to this rink and doing things here so that’s exciting. This one will be one I’ll remember for sure.”
Henrik Sedin and Kyle Wellwood also scored for the Canucks, while Roberto Luongo made 29 saves for their sixth win on an eight-game homestand.
The 23-16-0 Canucks will take on the 24-13-2 Phoenix Coyotes Tuesday night.
