I’m all about some Evan Turner today. Granted, the rest of the college basketball world shares the same sentiment — save Michigan fans — but even they have to acknowledge undefended greatness. Thanks to the magic of YouTube, there are so many different versions, it borders on recursion. After the jump, I’ll share some of them.
As for Turner, today’s shot is really close to the explanation point he needs to wrestle the Player of the Year award away from Kentucky’s John Wall. Interestingly enough, Turner was only 3-12 from inside the 3-point arc against Michigan; however, he was 3-3 when he shot from behind it. All the college basketball betting fans who bet on this team, would have turned their cash into gold!
Obviously, none of the three were bigger than that last one.
Here’s the first one I saw:
Now with Thad Motta exploding-after-the-shot goodness:
Here’s one with an Where Amazing Happens/NBA Commercial feel, complete with a black-and-white conversion:
A stereotypical video-with-bad-rap-music-remix. You know the ones I’m referring to:
Wanna see a Michigan fan’s painful reaction? Sure you do:
Good times. You’d think he’d be used to Ohio State crushing his spirit, but I digress. This is a celebration of Evan Turner, as it should be. This final one features good video of the shot and some post-game reaction, including Steve Lavin talking to our hero:
As for the PoY argument — sorry Lavin, but it hasn’t been decided yet (see his comment at the 4:17 mark) — there’s still time for Wall to perform a great act of his own, something that could monkey wrench Evan’s coronation. Lest we forget, it is the season of March Madness, so do some online betting on it!

Evan Turner is the real deal and the buzzer beater just shows that he is the man to turn to when Ohio State needed a shot this year. I know he and Ohio State fell just short but it was not from lack of effort on his part. He is player. It would be great to get him to stay but He may be one and done; but nevertheless, great video for a prime time player that makes me a fan of college basketball.
