The Czech Republic will be taking on Liechtenstein at home at on March 29th in a Group I clash in the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. The Czech Republic sits in second place in the five-team group with six points from two wins and two losses while Liechtenstein is firmly entrenched in last place in the group with no points from three games. Spain is the runaway leader in the group with four wins in four games four 12 points. Lithuania is in third place with four points from three games and Scotland sits in fourth place with four points from four matches.
The Czechs played well in Spain on March 25th; however they lost 2-1 after taking a 1-0 lead. David Villa scored both goals for Spain. They should get back on the winning track in this match against the group’s cellar dwellers. They need the points to stay safely ahead of both Lithuania and Scotland as they’re just two ahead of them. A win will also put them within three points of Spain, find good betting odds here.
The Czechs have done well in the past in the Euro Championships as they were finalists back in 1996 and made the semi-finals in 2004. They’ve scored four and allowed three goals so far in the qualifying round. Liechtenstein are winless in their last 14 competitive games and have scored just one goal in the group so far while letting in eight.
Their last competitive win came back in October of 2007 when they were 3-0 winners over Iceland in a qualifying game for the Euro 2008 tournament. They also haven’t won on the road in the last 15 competitive games with the last victory taking place in October of 2004 when they beat Luxembourg 4-0 in a qualifier for the 2006 World Cup.
The last time these two teams met was back in October when the Czech Republic won 2-0 in Liechtenstein in a Euro 2012 qualifier. Tomas Necid scored in the 12th minute and Vaclav Kadlec added an insurance goal to sew up the three points.
The Czech Republic should be able to take this match by at least a couple of goals and solidify their place in the standings.
The Czech Republic has won two lost two and drawn one in their last five games while Liechtenstein has a draw and four losses.
