Eli Consoles Big Brother

In a weird twist of fate, Eli Manning has taken it upon himself to provide big bro Peyton a shoulder to cry on after losing the Super Bowl. The littlest Manning is also making the media rounds defending  his sibling’s honor, as he did yesterday on ESPN Radio New York:

“I got to speak to him after the game a little bit, and I talked to him today. He’s doing good. I just told him he did everything he could, and without him on that team, they wouldn’t be anywhere near what they’ve done or capable of doing.”

Words to live by, I guess. However, I seriously doubt Peyton needs his kid bro to remind him of his value to the Colts. This ain’t exactly his first rodeo, if ya know what I mean.

It appears Eli is taking stock of the hater bandwagon that’s been building over the last few days. The one that wants to flush Peyton’s legacy down the toilet because he lost a Super Bowl to a really good opponent. Evidently all those gaudy stats and impressive wins don’t mean much now. Having only one Super Bowl victory, so far, has somehow tarnished his otherwise brilliant career.

Hmm. Sounds to me like we should revoke Steve Young’s Hall of Fame membership and while we’re at it, file a  permanent restraining order on Brett Favre from ever setting foot in Canton, Ohio. These clowns no longer deserve to be mentioned in the discussion of the “best quarterbacks ever” due to their inability to win multiple titles. They stink.

If you wanna trash Peyton, go right ahead. Call him a choker, drop him down a peg or ten on the all-time list. That’s cool. Just remember to stick your foot squarely in your mouth when he systematically shreds your favorite team’s defense next season. It seems only fair.
